Rewire

This Bernina Nova came in for a full general service and a rewire. As usual, with all the sewing machines and overlockers that come through our workshop, this Nova was stripped of its covers. This allows us access to all areas of the stitching mechanisms. The Bernina pattern cam stack, take-up lever, feed dog, raceway, shuttle, top and bottom shafts etc. It also enables us to thoroughly clean the machine of all dirt, dust, lint, pin and needles etc using the workshop compressor.

Bernina Nova Rewire

The original foot control had developed a fault and wasn’t behaving as it should. Unfortunately, Bernina no longer supply new replacement electronic foot controls for ther Nova model. So, we make a modification using a standard YDK ‘mechanical’ foot control with a carbon disc rheostat.
In addition, we removed the speed control circuit board from the machine.

Once complete, we retest the circuit and verify the speed-graduation control with the new foot control.

Bernina Nova General Service

Our general service includes a 44-point checklist. Basically, everything is checked, reset and tested. Finally, the machine is lubricated, test sewn and the tensions balanced between the top tension and the bobbincase tension.
