Brother PR655 Service Collection from Weymouth

Steve and I set off for a long haul call last week. A Brother PR655 service collection from Weymouth, on the south coast. Following our usual run, we motored through Lymm before the sun had come up. The pre-dawn traffic was still thick on the roads as we headed towards the M6. And after the usual congestion around Knutsford and Sandbach, things began to ease off a little. The M6 toll road services weren’t too busy, so we found our usual spot and broke out the sandwiches and coffee.

It was a filthy day and the van, which I’d jet-washed to a nice shine the day before, was soon covered in winter motorway mud and salt. Everywhere was rather bleak and monotone grey. It was also quite chilly. We ploughed on and headed ‘down south’.

And then we arrived in a cool and grey Weymouth. There was a little sunshine but not much heat. Our customer was a happy lady, and we didn’t have to carry her PR655 too far to the van. So we were both happy, too. After polite chit chats, we said our goodbyes and turned the van for home. Stevie’s turn to drive so I could take things a little easier.

The way home led us up the other side, for a change. The skies continued to look heavy over Dorchester and then Yeovil. We thought there might be snow on the hills, but none came our way.

The Brother PR655 is now safely seated in our workshop. The covers have been removed and next we will go through our multi-point check. All the mechanisms will be tested and reset where necessary. The machine will be fully cleaned and properly lubricated. It is essential that the correct oil and grease is used and many times we see the results of incorrect lubricants. Tensions will be set and balanced and various sew tests carried out. Finally, when we are happy the machine is working well, we will contact our customer to arrange the return.
