There’s something timeless about the road to Scarborough — the fields unfolding in wide, rolling silence, the villages still clinging to their own rhythm. Steve and I were up early this morning, van packed and coffee in hand, heading east once again. Our destination: A visit to Lauren at Yorbrand, and her thriving embroidery business on the coast.

We first visited Lauren last Wednesday to collect two Brother PR machines, both in need of some TLC. It’s always the same story with these hardworking embroidery shops: constant demand, little downtime, and machines that have earned every bit of wear. We brought them back to our workshop in Manchester, gave them a full service, replaced a few tired parts, and made sure they were running as smooth as the day they left the factory.
Return Trip
Today, we’re returning them.

Lauren runs Yorbrand with real care. You can tell from the moment you walk through the door — the samples on the wall, the clean threads in colour order, the energy in the room. She’s built a strong identity with Yorbrand, specialising in branded clothing and embroidery for local businesses, schools, and clubs. There’s nothing cookie-cutter about it either. Everything Lauren does has a personal touch — just like the machines she runs.
Bamber Sewing Machines – A Personal Touch
At Bamber Sewing Machines, it’s our job to support customers like Lauren — not just with machines, but with advice, service, and sometimes a shoulder to lean on when the workload gets heavy. We’ve been doing it for over 75 years. From the first PR600 to the latest PR680W, we’ve sold, delivered, and maintained more Brother embroidery machines than I can count — and we’re proud to stand by our customers long after the sale.
Embroidery Businesses and Bambers
If you’re running a business like Lauren’s and need a machine that can keep up, or if your current PR is starting to sound a bit tired, give us a ring. We don’t just ship boxes. We get in the van, come out to you, and make sure everything is right.
And always — like today — we enjoy a good drive, a good chat, and a glimpse of the sea.
