Nottingham’s an old city, and I always enjoy the drive there. There’s something about the way the roads narrow as you cross into the centre, past the old lace mills and down towards the castle. You get the feeling you’re somewhere with history — and purpose. This trip was no different.
I’d taken a call a week or so earlier from a young woman named Rachel. She’d been running a small workwear embroidery business from a unit just outside the city, supplying local tradesmen and a few gyms with polos and hoodies. Her single-needle machine — loyal as it had been — just wasn’t keeping up. Orders were growing, and mistakes and hold-ups were costly.
After a long chit-chat on the blower and a couple of emails back and forth, she made the decision: the Brother PR680W was the right fit.
Personal Delivery, Expert Setup
Dates were booked, and a little while later, we loaded up the van on a nice sunny morning. We gave the machine a final check-over as we always do, and Steve and I headed off on our next adventure
Rachel’s workspace was small, clean, and organised. A pegboard of threads on one wall, samples of finished polos on hangers, and a tight little desk where she handled designs and invoicing. She’d done well to get this far — and she knew it was time to take the next step.
We carried the Brother PR680W embroidery machine in carefully, and went through the full setup. Steve ran her through the needle threading, I helped her transfer a few of her regular designs using a memory stick, and within a few minutes, she was already embroidering her company’s logo on a polo shirt with perfect alignment.

Another Happy Customer in Nottingham
As we packed up to leave, Rachel handed us each a hoodie with “Bambers” stitched just above the cuff. “It’s just a thank-you,” she said. Those little moments make it worth it.
Nottingham gave us a warm welcome that day – and a cup of tea — and as we headed back up the A50, we both agreed: there’s something satisfying about helping good people grow good businesses.
